about
This track, originally released on my SoundCloud as 'Summer Death' follows the narrative of a person on a bad NBOMe trip, as told on youth current affairs show ‘Hack on triple j’. After losing it completely, the person drove naked onto the highway, hopped out of their car and jumped repeatedly into an electric fence. It's a damning story of pain and discomfort, but it was told with a surreal, other-worldliness to it. In the narrative of the EP, this track represents a loss of sense that comes with the paralysis of the inbetween. I used this story of despair to instead evoke hope, knowing that even though it's difficult now, once we transition out of a tough period, we can 'become' ourselves again - or rather, become who we want to be.
lyrics
All I know
Is that I'm lost inside you
Waiting for the summer to end
So I can be myself again
But I don't know
What lies before me
Falling into the spinning blue
It's a scary world I'll show you
I'm shouting triple zero to the sky
What happened to my insular life
Why can't they hear my cry
Electricity colliding
Shattering skin and bone
A January sun
Watched the day unfold
